Women’s Institute Held In House Training and Creative Writing Mentoring for Rural Women

Bandung, Women’s Institute : Wednesday, 11th June 2014 at Desa Kanci Kulon Kabupaten Cirebon, members of Women Cooperative “Annisa” gathered to continue their learning on creative writing. In this event, the participants who were rural housewives and small traders discuss introduction task in form of some questions. The participants look enthusiastic and start with telling back with simple language, sometimes with Cirebon* local dialects, some questions about themes, and some exciting things, etc.


The participants gave comments about the articles and their obstacles to read. There were some difficult terminology and foreign language that they never heard. Some of them also gave comments about social problems in the article. Some of participants confessed that they were motivated and inspired by the story from the article.


In House training continued with writing mentoring, which the participants have private mentoring or small group to read different articles. Some of the things that were discussed is about interesting themes, number of women and paragraphs in the article, message of the article, main characters, etc.


These simple techniques teach them to review an article so that will provoke their reading interest, learn understanding, and help to express their ideas into writing. When visited and assisted them, they were excited and try to understand every words, retold clearly, directly ask the foreign term and dare to express what was in their mind. This was a precious progress to empower grassroot women. A simple work but consistent. (pd/sa)
